A message from the TCBA Dream Home committee
One of the privileges of being involved in the building industry is the opportunity to give back to our community. It is with great excitement and pleasure to share with you that our next community effort is to provide a home for a deserving military family in our community.
The TCBA "Dream Home" will be built in Port St. Lucie for the Blackmon family: Chris is a Sergeant with the Army National Guard and he and his wife, Latasha, both work at the Walmart Distribution Center. They have 3 children, Christopher Jr. 9; Ivan 8; and London 1-month-old.
Chris and Latasha are hard-working, devoted parents who struggle every day to provide for their family. They live in an unsafe, dilapidated two-bedroom house in a dangerous neighborhood where the sound of gunshots is far too common an occurance. Recently, their home was broken into, leaving the family feeling even more vulnerable. The Blackmon family clearly see the "Dream Home" as an answer to their daily prayers!
Treasure Coast Builders Association, Homecrete Homes, Kirchman Construction, St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity, and the City of Port St. Lucie plan to partner with all TCBA members and industry professionals to help the Blackmon family. Construction will begin the third week of August and the plan is to build this home in just 7 DAYS. We will need significant pledges of materials, labor, and cash contributions to fully fund the project. We expect to reach our goal by inviting all participants in the building process - builders, sub-contractors, city staff, students, and volunteers from the Treasure Coast area to play a part. We hope you will consider supporting this effort.
