St Lucie Habitat For Humanity, St Lucie Florida

How does it work?

Families and individuals in need of decent, affordable housing apply for homeownership with their local Habitat for Humanity.

Each local Habitat's Family Services Committee selects homeowners based on three criteria:

  • The applicant's level of need
  • Their willingness to partner with Habitat
  • Their ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan
  • As part of their willingness to partner, Habitat's home-buyers invest hundreds of hours of their own labor, called sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and other Habitat homeowners.

If you or someone you know is interested in finding out about how to qualify to become a Habitat Homeowner in St. Lucie County, please call our office to speak to

Habitat for Humanity follows a nondiscriminatory policy of family selection. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing Habitat's homeowners.

*Please note: St. Lucie Habitat for Humanity does not offer short-term housing, rental housing, or immediate occupancy.

"From the beginning, we have insisted on nondiscriminatory family selection criteria for all Habitat homeowner families, which we believe to be consistent with the universal love of God. No one is excluded from that love. Neither race nor religion determines who will receive a Habitat home. Need is the paramount criterion."
